One-on-one triathlon and run coaching to help you balance your training within your daily schedule to help you reach your goals.

“I am made of all the days you don’t see, not just the one you do”

—Jan Frodeno

Athletes chase goals in running, cycling, or triathlon that are big, exciting, and it can be overwhelming at times. I’ve spent the last 8 years chasing goals like PR’s, competing at Ironman and Ironman 70.3 world championships, age group national titles, and trying to win races. In the first 7 years I was fairly successful by coaching myself, but I have learned in the last two years that there’s so much value to having someone in your corner keeping an objective eye on your day to day work – at times holding me accountable to a required effort level on a training (easy or hard). I have also found it extremely valuable to have a knowledgeable coach build my weekly training schedule around daily commitments.

After coaching on a smaller scale since 2021, I expanded my efforts and explored my passion to help athletes of varying levels all around the U.S. I am building up a local presence in Minnesota, but nearly 30% of my athletes are coached remotely around the U.S. I coach athletes beginning in triathlon, chasing PR’s and BQ’s, completing a first 70.3 or Ironman, all the way to athletes competing for national titles and Ironman world championship berths. I truly enjoy coaching a diverse group of athletes. In 2024, I began coaching in a partnership with Gear West – the best triathlon, cycling, running, and ski shop in the Midwest. Now, I have top notch bike service, gear, and preferred pricing for the athletes I coach.

If you’re thinking about being coached, I encourage you to reach out to me for a chat. I’m always happy to talk about an athlete’s goals and give my thoughts on how you will best succeed in your sport(s).

About David

I’m a 37 year old environmental consultant who is passionate about endurance sport and loves the process of helping others grow.

I grew up playing tennis through college and eventually found triathlon as a way to scratch the competitive itch I was feeling. I’ve raced and found success at all race distances from sprint to Ironman to half marathon. I’m married with three kids who take up most of my time, but triathlon and running are the best outlet for me to stay energized and balanced as an individual. My goal is to be in a position to win nearly every race I enter, which provides me with plenty of drive to keep getting faster! Read More

Coaching Services

I began coaching a few years ago and enjoyed the process and relationships so much that I wanted to continue my pursuit and coach more athletes. I love coaching athletes of varying experience levels, from beginners to athletes trying to cut just a few minutes in a half ironman or marathon to reach a certain goal. I enjoy coaching athletes at all distances from sprint triathlon to Ironman.

Coaching is most effective when it’s completely individualized and the athlete has the freedom to communicate at any time, whether that is providing me with workout feedback, notifying me of life conflicts, or sickness/minor injuries that are acting as momentary training roadblocks. We are working together to optimize the time that you have, and that often involves updating a training week “on the fly.”
